Final Blog Post

Throughout the semester I have learned a variety of subjects in this Strategic Presentation Class. One of the most important things I have learned in this class is that I have learned a variety of new concepts about sound and the difference between loudness and fidelity and how they play a major role in how people hear things and how they are typically seen as the same even though they are very different. I think that this was the concept that was most used in the podcast and the Screen Cast- O matic projects as we needed to have high fidelity in our presentation. Another important concept we learned i class were the two main technologies which were audacity and screen cast o matic. These two technologies are useful in different ways. Screencast O matic is very useful in presenting on how to do stuff that is located on the internet, while audacity is interesting as it allows me to record and edit which is something I always have been interested in as I listen to a lot of podcasts and have always had a misconseption  on how tough it is  to edit ( it is pretty hard) but it was interesting to learn how to do that. And finally the most important thing I learned to do is form a blog. I always assumed making blogs were a hard complicated process but after doing this class and forming a blog with a niche focus group, the process of forming a blog does not seem that hard. Also this was my first hybrid class at Rutgers and it taught me how to manage my time as we had to post our discussions and blogs at a certain time to allow people to comment on it which didn’t allow me to do the work at the last minute as I usually do. In conclusion this was a very informative class

Memes

  1. Each meme relates to my target audience as they all talk about different sports, My first meme talks about how Washington capitals fans have fanbase that cannot win a title, my second meme talks about how all of the bandwagon NFL fans are going to be Philadelphia Eagles fans, my third meme talks about how the University of Arizona Basketball program are going under FBI and and NCAA controversy.
  2. The ideal of a meme is the “concept or idea conveyed” (Davison, 123). The ideal of my first meme is that the Washington Capitals constantly fall short of winning championships which in turn causes their fanbase agony. The ideal of the second meme is that since the Philadelphia eagles won the Super Bowl, all of the bandwagon fans will become Eagles fans, and finally the ideal of the third meme is that The University of Arizona are going to be in trouble with the NCAA for paying their players, but insult to injury they were not able to win the NCAA national championship.
  3. The behavior for all three of these memes is to show a relation to my blog topics. The origin of the 1st meme post is that it is named “One does not simply walk into Mordor” and it originated from The Lord of the Rings movie where the character in the meme says One does not simply walk into mordor, but the meme typically changes the latter part of that sentence and makes it into a funny meme. This meme spread from a ymtnd page and made its way onto Myspace, then google maps, and then onto modern social media sites such as Facebook and twitter. The 2nd meme’s origins are from a stock photo by photographer Antonion Guillem who posted their photo on iStock. This meme spread first from instagram who used it as a tag meme post and then to twitter where a user put text socialism on the girl who is being checked out and capitialism on the jealous girlfriends body. It then got on to reddit and became a mainstream meme. And the final meme’s origins is that it comes from a BBC documentary series called “Hood Documentaries” in which a character points to his head. This meme is spread as it is on twitter and talks about video games and then spreads through twitter and reddit.
  4. The manifestation of a meme is the “observable, external phenomena” the manefistation for the 1st meme is that it is a man in who looks like he is explaining something, the manefisation of the 2nd meme is that it is a woman walking by with a man checking her out while her girlfriend looks on with jealousy, and the third meme’s manifestation is a man pointing at his head.
  5. These manifestations that i have chosen are used to appeal to my target audience due to the fact that they are all very mainstream and popular memes.

Blog Post #2

1.This Header convey’s that my website is about sports through the basketball. The fire that I use is in the header is to show that there are going to be interesting stories and hot takes on matters regarding sports. It relates to the target audience as it signifies that the story is about sports.

2. I found my source images on google. I made sure that they were able to be reused by me by going to advanced settings and went on to usage rights and made sure they were free to use and modify.

3.The Production process for my header was that I put and image of a fire as my first image then I used the smudge tool which gave it a more of a pop then I got a picture of a baseball and used transparency to allow there to be distinction of flames to put more focus on the baseball.

4. The production process that i did is different than what is done on bitmap with MS Word. On Bitmap there is not real editing, you sort of use drawings to change an image, while what I did is that I edited the photo which uses more technique as I can use blur and make images transparent. This is due to the fact that Bitmap has one layer while Pixlr/Photoshop has a endless amount of layers that allow me to do this.

The Philadelphia Eagles Won, and Philadelphia may cease to Exist

Somehow the Philadelphia Eagles, the team who’s starting quarterback looks like a slightly more athletic version of Napoleon Dynamite, won the Super Bowl.  And every Tom, Dick, and Harry in 20 mile radius of Philadelphia is celebrating. And in traditional Philadelphia fashion they are destroying their city like the rabid fans that they are. For the past 2 weeks Philadelphia fans have been justifying themselves and have been saying that they aren’t mean spirited fans and that the assaults against the Vikings fans 3 weeks ago was an isolated incident in which they were fighting in self defense. They somehow wanted all of the other people to forget that they were the fanbase that once threw snowballs at Santa, assaulted Chief Zee a super fan of the Washington Redskins, and booed every good quarterback they they ever drafted on their draft day (Donovan McNabb, Carson Wentz)  and make everyone think they were somehow a classy fanbase. And to add on to their history of being a violent and destructive fan base, they’ve decided to destroy the city that they root for. In the past 24 hours in Philadelphia their have been fires, rioting, looting, cars being flipped and light poles being tipped over. As someone who goes to Philadelphia often its absurd to think that the same people who take so much pride in their city and what it stands for, are so willing to destroy it just because of a championship. I know that this is their first championship in the Super Bowl era and their first title in almost 50 years, but it doesn’t justify riots.
